Sweet and Sour Rain

December 6, 2007

This morning the rain drops were the size of Smarties, sadly no blue ones, I could have done with a boost.

Smartie rain drops, land on you hair, and seep down, like icy cold water down a stalagmites, to your scalp, and trickle down to the nape of your neck.

By lunch time the rain drops were the size of mint creams,

This rain takes no prisoners, making direct contact with your scalp, in big cold blobs, yuk; the rain has gone on and on, all day.

I am hoping it will easy off to Tick Tacks by the morning

But it will all be to late by then, for the old boy at the bottom of the lane, where it joins the main road; the fire engine is there now, I hope it is pumping the water away from the cottage, not from in the cottage, the cottages name is a give away, Milton Cottage’ it was indeed an old corn mill; we have done our best to help, clearing the grids and drains further up the hill.

As a kid, in bad weather, I can remember seeing from the school bus, water pouring out of the front door, like a stream.

Over the years been a lot of work done to stop flooding like that, but I am sure a lot of it’s effectiveness has been up to the gentleman’s effort to keep the culverts and grids clear of autumn leaves, I am not sure he is up to that anymore.

Looking at a local weather web page, only a week into December and we have had nearly as much rain in the whole November.
