The little ones and i were marvelling at the temerity of a starling that built a nest in the great flaming ‘e’ of a ‘Zellers’ neon sign just the other night… how did the chicks get any sleep, we wondered? But i suppose in the absence of great thick trees, anything will do…

I think she might be trying to keep up with the youngsters, who pop through the flap in the plastic at the top of the window and go in the barn.
But she just can’t quite make it.
Do you get large flocks of starlings at dusk? they look so spectacular, not sure I would want them roosting in my garden though.
D’you think the chicken is expecting someone to pinch her eggs?
