We couldn’t really count, but there were in excess of a hundred frogs in around the the pond.
Go on, kiss me!
I am so impressed with this camera!
There were frogs swimming amongst the spawn that was laid last week,
And more frogs making more spawn, can anyone work out just how many are involved in this scrum? presumably there is a female in the middle.
It’s a very busy night, we carefully we picked our way back indoors, without the squelch of a frog underfoot, but it wasn’t easy.

Mrs. Uhdd’s got spring fever! Posts pouring forth! Frogs! Spawn! Mist! Leg of lamb for the fox den! Ash buds! Larch buds!
Likely to give birth to detailed Nature Guide covering the northerly outposts – book-signing to be held in Gateshead at Solstice. Tires me out. I’m going to go take a nap.
You should be glad that’s the only type of pond life you have to deal with!
Brilliant photographs UHDD. But frogs? Y u k!
Gerry, newts, bats and hares to come, lot of potential!
Noddy I am sure you can see many similarities, come the dawning of the day they have crawled back under a stone.
Dickiebo, some frogs out in the lane got a bit squashed by cars, do ya want to see?? I could nip out and take a few shots?? I might even manage an action shot of a chicken throwing one about
LOL Neat frog shots!!! I especially like the 2nd one of the curious, perky frog and the 3rd one of the frog swimming among the spawn. Jeepers Creepers! My, they were busy, weren’t they?
Is this where all the frogs have gone to? There are hardly any in our pond yet. Maybe they know of the danger that lurks beneath … the three goldfish, who eat their tadpoles as soon as they’ve hatched and grow fatter every year.
Lovely spring photos. Yes, you’ve got a great camera there, and a good eye too.
Wow! Amazing photos ~ a busy pond indeed. The close-up of the frog’s face is so clear… and priceless! Nice camera work!
Okay, now that’s a frog orgy. My co-worker had to come take a look – she’d never seen a frog orgy before. Neither have I.
Cool shots.
One of the boys described it as ‘kiss chase’ LOL
That second photo is just fantastic!
When I was growing up we had a pond in our backyard suburban garden. We put tadpoles in there one year, and every year the resulting frogs would return to lay their eggs. They made a real racket with their mating calls.
[...] morning, but I’m sure there will be plenty of photo opportunities over the next few weeks; there was last year, and I didn’t have a long lens then, so Mr Frog and Mr Toad (and maybe even the odd newt, [...]
found this from your recent post! i am a lawyer and i used to work at home quite often in my old job. our local judge was in the habit of phoning lawyers up if he had a query about something and one day i was in the garden in my wellies when my mobile went off and it was his honour! just at that moment one of my chickens went running past (they were the jungle fowl sort of chicken that runs like a greyhound) caryying a frog in its beak. so there i am, explaining why a particular court rule applied to my injunction to the judge while chasing the chicken to try and rescue the frog. needless to say the chicken won.
another time i’ll tell you about the snake and the frog…
LOL, have a look at this wonderful frog photo,
