Spring has sprung

The weather over the last week has alternated between warm and wet, the result is that you can almost hear things growing, spring is gathering pace, it struck me yesterday evening that the stark, silhouetted landscapes I have been photographing and blogging about for the past few months,  are disappearing fast under a rising tide of ‘greenness’  I am not sure I know how to do ‘verdant’ or if I do, I’ve forgotten.

This morning it’s rained, heavily, but soft rain if you get my drift, ‘growing rain’ my dad would have called it. Earlier on the dandelions were tight shut, but within half an hour of the sun braking through, the field had come out in a rash of yellow spots.

Rash

The field next to ours is more intensively managed, it’s had sheep grazing on it, so there is less length of grass and not a dandelion in sight.  But in our field, there is work to be done, but where do you start, one bee so many dandelions..

I must away to to give a little thought, to the Noddy challenge

  1. It looks our landscapes are on similar timelines.

    Beautiful photos. :)

  2. One bee, so many dandelions … yes that is just how feel at the moment. So many outside jobs to do now that spring is here, and loads of indoor ones I didn’t finish over the winter. Thank goodness it’s raining today. Me and the bee can stay in and get our houses in order.

  3. Now you’ve gone and done it. The minute a person says something like “Spring has sprung” Mother Nature laughs to herself and sends more s**w, just because she can. The hussy.

  4. Growing rain is all well and good but I’d like some growing sunshine please! xx

  5. It’s been raining here this evening. Lovely rain. The sort of rain it’s nice to lie cosily in bed and listen to.

Hey - why don’t you think about entering BBC Countryfile’s photo competition? “Animals in Action” I’m going to give it a whirl - assuming I find some animals doing something action-y whilst I happen to be in possession of the Nikon before the closing date that is. :)

  6. I’ll take a look at that Nezza, you are going to have to take the camera EVERYWHERE with you.
Rain and showers continue, sorry to hear you are getting a drenching down in London flighty, at least we get dashes of sunshine
