Take me with you, Please!

Spud the dog tries to hitch a ride with Tom, who has set off on his Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award expedition.
I shall protest if you leave me behind

This part of Derbyshire is freckled with parties of teenagers yomping across the hills on their DofE expeditions. To date all Toms training trips have been on home turf, of which he has a pretty good knowledge, because of the ground he covers on his mountain bike outings; but this time he is off to the Yorkshire Dales, he will have to pay attention to the map.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England.
Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it!
I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing.
On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell!
Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

That’s quite a kit he’s packing in addition to Spud. Looks like he’s in for some serious back packing.

The Cowboy wishes to go yomping and inquired whether map-reading is strictly necessary so long as he stays in Antrim County. Miss Sadie says that he does not know the boundaries of the county from his hind foot, and that he’d best leave the yomping to Tom. She also extends her sympathy to Spud on his temporary abandonment, adding that the likelihood of compensatory treats is high, and ought to be some comfort.

I trust that by the end of the yomp, that mahoosive backpack will be filled with dirty washing, as a special present for Mum, yes?

I’m hoping when he’s eaten the three days worth of food that he is carrying with him, the pack will be considerably smaller!
