Spud the dog jumping though hoops.
Well only a hoop, but it is only a matter of time before it’s hoops: I’ll explain.
It was my birthday yesterday, a few weeks ago I’d said to Tom and Joe that I’d quite like a hula hoop for my birthday*, I thought it would be a bit of fun (I feel one should be on guard against life being too serious especially at 52 years of age). I imagined that they get one from Poundland on the way home from school, but being the Internet shoppers they are (that, or they didn’t want to be seen on the school bus with a hula hoop!) Tom sourced and ordered one online. But due to a little communications glitch Mr Uphilldowndale also ordered a hula hoop. I shall soon be in receipt of a second hula hoop.
Joe has enhanced todays image, with special effects
‘Have you tried looking for hula hoops on the Internet?’ asked Mr Uhdd ‘It is soooo complicated’. Many things are too complicated on the Internet, that is why I haven’t yet managed to decide which camera flash gun I want, I think I may have even started the process last birthday *sigh*. Mr Uhdd shopped here, they were very helpful and efficient.
* I’d like to point out I asked for a hula hoop before Grace Jones got in on the act at the Queens Diamond Jubilee Concert: come on Grace keep up…

You can’t have too many hula hoops. Mrs Tootlepedal recently acquired one with strange knobbly bits on. I must say that Spud seems to be a little dischuffed at being asked to go through fiery hoops.

I thought for a moment you were referring to a bike tyre Toot!! But Mr Uhdd tells me his hula hoop research found such things!

It is supposed to have additional but unspecified slimming benefits

Hula hooping is good exercise for the “core” muscles. You can spin one on each arm and find out really quick how weak your “flying” muscles are!

I could hardly hold my arm out with that hoop, let alone spin it. Hoop mark II is more suited to flying training….

Happy, happy birthday a bit belated!

Happy, if belated, birthday! I’ll leave the fun of hula hooping to you and Spud. xx

Phew! I thought at the beginning that this was going to be another story about a trip to A & E / bodies not being as young as they feel / it’s not as easy as it looks, for example. But no, you’re OK. Although, you don’t say how you got on with the hoop; there’s only a picture of Spud playing with it…

ha ha, no way will you see a photo of me and my hula hoop…

Must be a ‘male’ thing – I requested a hula hoop to try and remind some of my muscles that they do in fact have a purpose – hubby bought me a cute little glittery number with “stuff” inside that makes a sort of swishing noise when the hoop goes around you – most distracting. Still, we girls had a good giggle trying it out after a glass or two of vino collapso! It’s now residing in the shed … nuff said.

Wine and hula hoop, has to be a A+E story!!

“Dischuffed” ?!?!
I had never considered the possibility and now I’m looking forward to using it. (The word, not the hula hoop. I did that avidly the first time around. I am not up for it this time.) I hope you had a very happy birthday, and that someone orders you a camera flash gun as well.

I tried using a hula hoop earlier this spring and was surprised how difficult it was compared to when I was a child. There are indeed many types. The one I tried was weighted which made it hard to keep balanced.
Good luck with your hula hooping.
