He’s back, by popular request, a new look Spud the dog.

I can’t guarantee it will be every Sunday, but we’ll try.
Today he’s been enjoying some tasty chewy ice (or so it seemed) I don’t know why it didn’t stick to his tongue.

The ice was pulled out of the cattle trough by Tom yesterday, of course at –3c this morning the trough had refrozen. It was all a bit of adventure for the kitten-cats Jammy and Dodger, who found traction, even with a fine set of inbuilt crampons, pretty tricky.

Of course being youngsters, they don’t yet know the perils of cats on thin ice

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England.
Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it!
I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing.
On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell!
Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

Good to see Spud and the cat again. I don’t know which cat it is, but he’s grown a lot!

It’s clever to look that soulful while chewing ice.

Spud’s as gorgeous as ever. And Jammy’s getting so big, he’s going to catch up to Spud any day now!

At last Spud has returned. I was going to file a missing person report but he is obviously full of beans.

Nice to see Spud again. I look forward to seeing him and the cats enjoying wintry adventures. xx

Well, hello again Spud, you ice breaker, you! Spud looks so healthy
The kitty must wonder what the heck is going on underfoot. You are experiencing quite a cold spell with minus 0 temps. Here it is slightly above the average at about 9C, so we’ll enjoy the mildness while it lasts!

The Adventures of Spud the Dog and Jammy and Dodger the Kitten Cats! This has possibilities of nearly frightening proportions.
I was wondering why animals seem to misunderstand the nature of ice, and then I remembered all the people who have had the same fatal flaw. If I am not careful I will find myself struggling to pull myself out of the Bay one wintry day, in spite of my trusty YakTrax. Note to self: Be Careful.
