Happy Mothers Day.

I’ve been keeping a low profile this week,  it’s week two, of gnawing tooth ache. A couple of trips to the dentist, painkillers a plenty, plus a course of antibiotics  and oil of cloves and I’m not sure the end is yet in sight. I’m feeling rather weary of it.

Today we have been sat well and truly on the snow line,

we often are, live in a place long enough and eventually a pattern emerges. It has been bright and clear, but with a very sharp, bitingly cold wind. No way was I taking my ultra sensitive tooth out side for a dash of photography, oh no: I can wince at the mere thought of it, it is bad enough having cold air blasted on each tooth in the name of a diagnosis (it gave new meaning to the expression ‘upwardly mobile’!)

Photos taken from the bedroom window are as good as it gets today.

A few minutes later, a squall of snow flushed through the valley and finished the show for the day.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Lovely pics as ever, hope the tooth gets better soon.

  2. Not a bad bedroom window to look out of. You seemed to have the same weather as us but it didn’t stop on the top of our hills.

  3. I hope your tooth will soon be better!
What a great view to have from his house – it must be almost enough to forget a toothache for some time ;-)

  4. I hope you’re out of pain soon. Two weeks is too long. Me? I’m just on my first week of toothache. Dentist again today and I’ve been living on a diet of sloppy food, paracetamol, nurofen and oil of cloves!

  5. Sending get-well wishes from Texas!

  6. Toothache, oh yes, I have been in your situation. Words cannot help or soothe but good wishes for a swift recovery nonetheless.

  7. I tried holding on to a tooth too long and it ended up being pulled anyway. I hope your tooth behaves better soon and stays around. Pain is bad for the whole body. Blood pressure doesn’t like it either. Best wishes.

  8. Sorry to read that your tooth is still a problem and hopes that it gets better soon. By what you say and the look of your photos it was a day for staying in. xx
