Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

Storm warnings

All was peaceful this evening on my sunset stroll around the field,

I had company, Dandy the cat, walking on the wall so as not to get his feet wet; the dog wouldn’t come with me because she dislikes the camera.

The meteorological office have issued storm warnings for Monday/Tuesday, will the barn roof be OK? this is the usual pre-storm anxiety, this was a neighbours tree, after last weeks high winds

and a fianl arty moment of the weekend, cobwebs on the inside and clouds reflected on the outside in the barn window.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. He’s a lovely looking cat! He reminds me of one called Sandy we had a long time ago.
Is your dog really camera shy?

  2. Something about seeing a ‘wounded’ tree as big as that one. A bit sad, really!

  3. I know what you mean dickiebo, it does look like matchwood, I am not sure why that tree should have ‘gone’ there are far sicker ones adjacent to it.

flighty, Moss is a complex dog, she is frightened of many things. I take her and the camera out at the same time, but I rarely get a relaxed looking photo of her, its a shame because she is a very pretty dog.

  4. Dandy made the picture. Talk about perspective. Wow, what a great shot.

  5. I agree – fantastic picture of Dandy.

Hope your barn roof stayed on. It has been a tad breezy hasn’t it??!!
