Bogs, much maligned but rather beautiful in the right light
This is what we are looking at
When the wind changed direction the water took on the patina of beaten metal, all rather sparkly and pretty. I like sparkly things.
I was a little wary of where I put my feet (I’d visions of being lost with out trace only to reappear like the ‘The Lindow Man’ in 2000 years time.) I felt a little guilty when I realised how beautiful a bog can be, in my many years as a florist, we used bag after bag of sphagnum moss, (no doubt ripped from locations like this) to make the bases for funeral tributes, before foam bases were widely used, (I’m not sure which is the least environmentally damaging, plastic or moss, I suspect neither is good; it’s probably best to ‘go’ with a bunch of seasonal flowers, tied with jute string)
It is obviously a complex, delicate place and a lot prettier than the name suggests
