Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

Sunny Mood

The frogs were in a more amiable frame of mind today, like the rest of us a bit of sun on your back, makes hanging around rather pleasant

Frog 3

Smiley, happy faces

Frog 2

I was a little hampered by the chickens who came and perched on the bench by the pond with me, but after they cleared off (because I had no food for them) and all was still again, heads started popping up, a lot of heads, I’m not sure who was watching who.

Frogs eyes

Then Dandy the cat turned up the frogs disappeared into the depths of the pond again. Dandy didn’t follow, this time.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. love the photos. i lived on the east coast of england in boston for half a year and got to enjoy some of the surrounding country. i just found this blog and love it already–reminds me of good times.

    thanks, and keep it up.

  2. 🙂 What a good company to be in! They are absolutely irresistible, – the photos are great! Your area seems to be rich of the beautiful wild life.

  3. I love frogs! Those you photographed are beautiful. Remember…”beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

  4. Aren’t these guys handsom? My mom has a little frog she named prince charming that moved into her meditation house (my old playhouse). He is quite adorable, he likes to sit on the pillows in there once in a while. He keeps the bugs down for her.

  5. Oh . . . my . . . goodness. Mrs. Uhdd, these are just extraordinary photos. You’re getting better and better at this, right before our eyes. What a pleasure to drop in.

  6. Great shots all, Uhdd! Love the bokeh in that first shot and all the eyes staring back in the last.

  7. Great shots, cute frogs and I agree – a little sun does make one lively.

  8. Terrific photos, I especially like the second one! xx

  9. Such clear photos! I’m with Flighty on the second one ~ I’m sure that frog is smiling 🙂 The third one with the all the eyes is great fun! I think I’ll have to good frog hunting with my camera.

  10. Sorry, that last sentence should read: I think I’ll have to go frog hunting with my camera!

  11. Lovely! And thanks for the link, I should have thought about it, and googled ‘newts’. The frog on the right of the middle picture looks very smug.
