Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

A Bit of a Buzz

It’s far to nice to be indoors, if you want me, you’ll find me in the garden along with the birds and the bees.

Bags of pollen

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Soon, soon–well, in my lifetime at least–our orchards will bloom, the beekeepers will trundle back to Michigan with their hives, and all will be right with the world.

In the meantime we are having March Mud Season and I am cranky.

  2. Wow — what kind of camera/lens did you use? Those are great shots.

  3. Lucky you! On my bike ride to work today I actually got an icecream headache from the cold air rushing past all the freezing rain on my forehead. Yuck.

  4. Lovely! We saw 3 yellow butterflies on Sunday..Unfortunately, I couldn’t photo them.

  5. Please someone do the first cut on my lawn (grass area). Bloody grass.

  6. I love that chunky bumble bee. I look forward to seeing those guys again. Enjoy the flowers with those bees!

  7. I’ve just planted a pear tree so I could do with that bee round here in a few weeks. We used to have them nesting under our patio every year, but not last year. A sign of the times, I expect.

Come on, join in.
