Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

To the Woods

To the woods once more, moss as thick and lush  as this doesn’t grow over night, but it does grow on trees.

Tree, barn, moss

Another fine stone gate post to add to the collection

It was tranquil and very pleasant, but I don’t find plantations

are as interesting as ancient broad-leaved  woods. They just lack a little something; supermarket trees, when you really fancy something from the  delicatessen.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Nicely put, Mrs!

  2. Beautiful – especially the first shot.

  3. You and those posts uphill
There is a nice one on the Edale Skyline route that would add to the collection
It actually looks like a big toe

  4. Very nice quality supermarket you have there, I must say! But yes, the deli would offer something more satisfying. Groomed parkland is lovely, but it’s that ancient trail curving away through a higgledy-piggledy woodland that tugs at the heart – and the toes!

Come on, join in.
