Prettiest Bitch and Handsomest Dog

Not to mention the class for the ‘waggiest tail’ and the ‘cutest puppy’; I stumbled upon the the dog show at Bollington Festival, they obviously like dogs in Bollington. The queue for registration snaked across the recreation ground the stewards seemed a little overwhelmed by the number of entrants (I would have been) and the local vet had an unenviable task of pulling a winner out of so many much loved pets (I could empathise with him, speaking as someone who was once asked to judge WI scone competition, there was no mistaking the generations fierce competition that lay beneath the genteel veneer of afternoon tea.)

Here’s a selection, pick your own winner.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Either number 5, number 7 or number 10 😀

But then I have a thing for big dogs – I don’t think they are a real dog (as opposed to a rat in disguise) if they can’t put their paws on your shoulder without jumping…

  2. number 7 for sure, how could you not like those blue eyes…

  3. has to be the SIB, even beats no 10, not sure if it’s a newfoundland or a st bernard

  4. Wow. It’s got to be the wolfy looking dog with blue eyes! Wow again to him/her.

  5. The blue-eyed husky is very attractive, but I’m drawn to the smart little black and white guy riding around in his owner’s arms in #4. Or maybe it’s the owner.

The Cowboy observes that a spaniel rear end is disappearing from picture #1, and suggests that given a proper viewing that particular dog would surely win best of show.

  6. I’d heard you’d gone to the dogs. Phew, now I know what they meant! ;p

  7. Number 6….it’s a puppy folks! All puppies are cute (probably even rat-ones).

  8. I like number 10! xx

  9. Well it was the puppy but the husky is just soooo gorgeous, he/she would definitely get my vote!

  10. Oh yeah the vote…….7 for me.

  11. So many lovely dogs! I daren’t show my son or he’ll be nagging me for one again. One day we’ll do it again.

Come on, join in.
