Slow Down, You Move to Fast

Slow down

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy.
Hello lamppost,
What cha knowing?
I’ve come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain’t cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in’ doo-doo,
Feelin’ groovy.
Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. OK, so somebody’s having a really good weekend. Believe I’ll slow down, kick back, and have at least one gooooood day out of the deal.

  2. Great post – I”m ready for the slow down!!!!

  3. Slow down

I think a few hours on the bike then a couple of beers at the side of the pond with AJ.
I hope everyone else has got the same weather ive woken up to.
    Bright sunshine indeed.
    Good track Uphill.

    • NiC that was last Saturday, yesterday and today are drop dead gorgeous!
LBR, Mr Uhdd was running up Ben Nevis at first light, then getting in a van for the loooooong drive back…….. not my idea of a grand day out!!

  4. Not me as I’ve always been a bit of a dawdler, so if I slowed down any more I’d be at a standstill! xx

  5. Wish I could have slowed down but my daughter persuaded me to go on a long and tiring shopping trip and of course I ended up carrying the shopping! Maybe tomorrow I’ll have a lazy day.

  6. Beautiful scene and good advice. I enjoyed the song too. 🙂

  7. You live in such beautiful country. I’d love to slow down there. Love your song choice to go with the post. 🙂

  8. Some of my favorite memories are of living in Manchester and getting away to the countryside to walk and climb and sit…wonderful times of “feeling groovy”.

    Thanks for the remembrances. 😉
