Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

Snow Report

We’ve escaped with only a little snow today, unlike great swathes of the country

Snow report-2

Very cold and icy though.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. yep and guess were ive been today
    south east

set off at 3.30am and was late home. loads of snow and as usual a country that doesnt seem to be able to cope

  2. Lucky you, would you like mine! xx

  3. In all fairness, we did get about a foot of snowfall in some areas, and it’s not as if we had much warning. *fails to keep a straight face*

Amazing really, isn’t it? Half of the problems I experienced today were because they hadn’t sufficiently salted the roads. Perhaps the council/highways agency don’t watch the news like we do?!

  4. Brrr, the hills look beautiful with their white coating, but snow is headed our way too and it’s been dreadfully cold in New England.

  5. Lovely mid-tones on those hills.

I’m glad I’m here , inside with a warm puppy. Actually glad to be here with a puppy at all. She has just spent two nights in hospital. I thought we were going to lose her. She got stepped on, in rather a dramatic way, and her contorted gasping body was a scary sight. Amazingly, nothing was broken and she is back on her legs again. I’m keeping her safe in bed for a while, where she can’t get in anyone’s way.

    • Oh Joss, how awful, it so easily done, when Spud was small I adopted a shuffling gait in the kitchen, because he was always at my feet, he does it now, if you are stood at the worktop or the cooker he comes and lies on your feet. I stood on his tail the other day, and didn’t realise immediately, I thought the squeal was coming from his squeaky toy!

  6. Oh! Marblecake Mountain! And the WordPress Snow Effect adds to the effect. Very nice.

  7. And totally beautiful, too. Man, what a view. Stay warm and safe, Ms Uhdd.

  8. Aye, we’ve got some as well, but without the high drama of south east England! The main roads were all clear by 6:30am yesterday, but the side roads would be more use to Torvill & Dean.

Still, it makes a pretty picture!

Come on, join in.
