is a joy forever. Last year I stumbled across the winter beauty of cow parsley, how a seed head, a low sun and cluster of ice can turn the mundane in to a jewel.

So this year I knew exactly where to go and when.

I was not disappointed in the gems on display

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. these are gorgeous! who needs diamonds?

  2. Each one looks like an offering to the sun. How beautiful they are. Thank you.

  3. Truly beautiful photographs. Spud looks like he’s enjoying the snow – our cats are very nervous of the whole thing and spend ages sniffing at it before venturing out the door!

  4. What an elegantly worded post, Mrs Uhdd. Spare and simple, like the images you captured. They are indeed gems, like diamond rings in their gold settings. Very clever.

  5. Absolutely gorgeous. My kind of images also 🙂 It has been a bit cold lately so we have been inside the whole day. I hope for some sun and a wee bit warmer weather.

Back to the images now. The second one is so beautiful and the sun makes it like gold.
