Just Snow You Know

‘Has the snow gone up your way yet?’ lowland colleagues ask me, ‘ Just a few drifts are still lying under the walls on high ground’ I tell them. I may be under-exaggerating, if you get my drift,  it seems I’m not looking in the right places.

Mr Uhdd took this photo on his phone today, whilst he was out on his new bike. He’s left his bike in shot for scale (it’s leaning against the drift on the left.)

Snow you know-2-2

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Wow!! I’ve not seen that! And I’m in Scotland!

  2. Not so much snow here but approximately one meter of snow. And it’s snowing right now!

  3. Now that is a respectable amount of snow by our standards. What I want to know is how in the heck Mr. Uhdd manages to ride his bike???

  4. Looks like a shot from Greenland!

  5. I haven’t been up this way since around new year. Time to dig my boots out and get up there while it lasts.

    • It’s not all like that Debra. There are tha few places on the hills where snow has drifted and remains. It’s mostly gone though.

  6. The bike really adds scale to the photo!
As for biking in such conditions and weather….! xx

  7. We have so much snow here in Washington DC. We’re not used to it.

  8. Mr Uhdd, some of the magic has rubbed off on you – that’s a lovely shot. And you put the bike in for scale. I bet Mrs Uhdd was proud of you. 🙂

  9. That’s nowt but a covering…… ;-D

  10. And, here in San Diego we are complaining that we’ve had a couple of weeks of rain.

  11. I’m really enjoying seeing and reading your entries on Vision and Verb and the additional info and photos on here.

My gosh, that bike certainly gives perspective of how much snow is piled up! Are you sure you don’t live in Canada 😉

  12. I don’t have a regular camera but love taking photos of nature here in New Jersey with my little cell phone. Dee Witherby gave me a link to this site so I could enjoy looking at your photos.

We just had snow here yesterday. It certainly looks like you’ve had more there! I truly enjoyed this picture. And I agree that the bike not only gives us a sense of scale it adds a lot of interest to the picture. Great job!

  13. As long as it lies in dykes and ditches – it will return.

No Not General McArthur – the Snow.
