Damp Dog

Spud peeping around the corner-2

My what damp ears you have Spud, it couldn’t be that you’ve taken a morning dip in the pond could it?

Hole in the ice-2

Thought so.

As an aside, living amongst fields we are used to a handful of stray sheep finding their way into the garden, but our friends in London were a little surprised to have 50 lambs turn up on their allotment

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  4. That’s another lovely photo of Spud.

  5. Spud is so cute. I hope the lambs made it back to their mums in time for all to be well.

  6. My goodness! He looks so grown-up and serious! As if he’s trying to be taken for a thoughtful investigator, rather than a goof who fell in the pond. Such a boy.

  7. Oh, you can’t keep a good springer out of water, frozen or not. Mine used to do this as well, breaking the ice to go for a swim. And yes, she did suffer from stiff joints later in life. But I reckon it was worth it, she so looooved the water.

  8. What a gorgeous portrait of your sweet pup!!!

  9. nothing like the smell of damp dog.

  16. I have looked at your link about the stolen lambs, a terrible thing to happen to both the sheep and the farmer. However I am confused by the paper’s photo of supposed lambs.. the lambs in the pic are at least 6 months old..
    should someone tell them?

Great blogs as always, thanks and Spud is great. Our pup is no longer here, her owner chose university for 3 years and the lovely year old black lab gone to a new working home.. big bangs didn’t faze her either! But much better for the dog, than an owner who was never at home.

Come on, join in.
