Sailing Off Into the Sunset

A narrow boat holiday on the Leeds Liverpool canal

With many a lock and swing bridge to keep the boys busy

Tom, running to open the bridge.

And many a photo opportunity for me! I certainly think Spud is going to have a good time

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Beautiful. Doe Spud ever not have a good time?

  2. What amazing photos, and sounds like a super holiday for a family, with something for everyone, including Spud of course. I found the history and detailed link to ‘narrow boats’ very informative, especially the details on what does and does not constitute a narrow boat! Treasured memories are made from excursions such as these.

  3. Wow! Floating lazily down the canal through such gorgeous scenery while your “crew” does all the work — my idea of a holiday. What fun. Wish I was there — LOL!

  4. You are going to have the best vacation! And the photos are exceptional, even by your standards. The composition in that last one is deeply satisfying. OK, now I’m pretty sure I heard a splash. Better go pull Spud out of the canal.

  5. Have yourselves a great time! I like the photos. I see that it didn’t take Spud long to go swimming! xx

  6. It all looks so beautiful. The sunlight is wonderful.

Come on, join in.
