Spud on a Sunday IX

You may,or may not, have noticed, but Spud skipped a week, due to circumstances beyond his control

But he’s back again in his Sunday slot, this shot taken whilst playing his favourite game, ‘Spud in the middle’ a game which involves Tom and Joe lobbing a ball at each other and Spud charging up and down trying to catch it before them. It’s hot and exhausting work (for Spud) and once in control of the ball, Spud is apt to take a time out to catch his breath.

Spud with ball-1

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Glad to see that the white stuff hasn’t lasted where you live either. This could be Spud on any Sunday in spring or summer. Although … I suppose the angle of the light is low and suggests otherwise.

  2. He appears to savor the ball while he has it.

  3. I love the Spud on Sunday feature! In ref: “Tom and Joe lobbing a ball” — I’m tempted to ask, “A ball of what?” — Of course, once he gets possession of the ball and slobbers on it, the game of catch is over — or it would be for me anyway.

  4. Oh excellent Spud! Eyes squeezed shut in bliss, his mouth full of, er, well I’m sure whatever it is is very nice. And blessed sunshine.

  5. This is just so chuckle-worthy! What a terrific photo ~ all senses are on alert…I can just about taste that green wad of…ball. Wonderful!

  6. Good to see Spud on Sunday back for the New Year. If it was anything like as cold up with you as it was with us I can see another session by the Aga for thawing his paws, no matter how warm the rest of him got.

  7. Spud on a Sunday always makes me smile.

  8. Spud’s not the one who’s skipped a Sunday! xx

  9. Great photo of Spud – he has a similar attitude to balls as B Baggins by the looks of it. ‘When I’ve got it it’s mine and I’m going to chew it to bits’ !

  10. I think Harvey, our Border Terrier, would appreciate a little of that green stuff! We still have snow and ice, which makes ball games rather interesting…
