Spud over the top-1

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Fantastic photo! That is one happy dog. My city dogs are green with envy over Spud’s freedom to roam!

  2. Wonderful, and so exuberant! xx

  3. Freedom in motion! What a terrific image… nice textures as well, with the brick wall, conifer, and drystone wall…to say nothing of that streak of flying fur!

I have enjoyed reading your previous posts as well, but have been otherwise occupied … and have missed commenting.

  4. Brilliant photo! Love the Alpacas (Alpaca? Not sure how to make it plural) on the last post as well. I have some Alpaca socks – so so warm although to be fair a little itchy!

    • I’ve been told of this by others, as the sort of person that can’t be doing with labels tickling my neck I think I’d have a problem wearing it next to my skin

  5. I love the flapping ears. To me, that shot pretty much captures the essence of Spud and his blissfully free spirit.

  6. I’ve never seen a flying dog before. 😉

  7. Love that doggie! He must feel wonderful flying over that wall. Dogs just know about how to be happy. I’m definitely going to be one next time.

  8. The Cowboy is of the opinion that he, too, could fly if I only allowed him to eat the delicious things he finds down on the beach. Miss Sadie guffawed and said that if he ate rather less altogether he might be able to get farther off the ground. Now they are not speaking to each other, and it is blissfully peaceful around here. Thank you.

  9. How long was the run-up?

Or does he do one of those last minute hop type things?

I think we need to know more…….

  10. And how did you get the shot?

Did you wait there for ages or did you get one of the boys to entice Spud over the wall?

This photo does what all the best photos do; poses more questions than it answers. True art.

    • Tom threw the ball, many times, Spud jumped over the wall many times.
Spud leaps at the wall and ‘pushes off’ from the top of the wall, he could use the stile 🙂
Maybe we ought to try a video… he barely needs any run up.

  11. Excellent. Now it becomes clear. Genius set of flying ears he has!!

Come on, join in.
