You can’t beat those Victorian railway stations for a bit of grandeur. I recall being stuck just outside of that one for some considerable time, with the usual startling lack of explanation from good old British Rail (as they were, then).
I imagine that everywhere was sooty back then! York is a terrific city for a stroll round with camera in hand. xx
Yes, that curving arched roof really is something. York is a grand place altogether and very photogenic.
A few years back, I spend a couple of hours wandering about taking photographs, no-one troubled me to ask me what I was doing – which is quite remarkable in itself this day and age.
