Spud on Sunday Part LV

Out of my reach, at the end of a long lens.  Spud the dog takes a roll in something noxious. Dog bliss.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Oh no! I hate when they do that!

  2. Did he look guilty when he came running back, or pleased with himself?

  3. Spud! You are supposed to be wearing your ‘Sunday Best’ cologne not some ‘Eau de Phew’! At least we can’t smell you up close 😉

  4. This is one area where cats have it all over dogs. Miss Puss is quite finicky about rolling. She goes to town in the lavender patch, while the Cowboy seeks out yet another dead fish on the shore. Preferably one next to a burdock or a giant thistle.

Miss Sadie enjoys a good roll, too, but her coat is so short she usually manages to stay tidy.

  5. Was it fox poop? As kids, we voted that the stinkiest substance on earth, mainly due to one of Spud’s distant cousins and her habit of rolling in said poop!

  6. Bet the other dogs find Spud ever more appealing after his roll in the stink!

Come on, join in.
