Spud on Sunday Part LXVII

Spud  the dog can barely contain his excitement, he has some new playmates, granted they are a little nervous of him at the moment, after all he is much, much bigger than they are. But he just knows having them around is going to be a lot of fun (even if he has to share his Sunday post with the little scene stealers)

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Wonderful! Lucky them joining Spud and his family where I’m sure they’re be really happy. xx

  2. Too cute! No suggestion on names, you might want to stick to something quite unisex if you’re not sure about the sex! Our neighbour’s cat is stuck with ‘Compo’ despite turning out to be a girl

  3. Adorable boys. Harry and Will?

  4. Continuing the potato theme… Chip and Rosti?

  5. Pretty kittens. Best to wait for them to show their personalities. I’m sure you will spontaneously name them!

Otherwise, favorite film and literature characters work well!

  6. How about Heckle and Jeckle! jd

  7. So cute! The shot of the one kitty with his tongue out is brilliant! I like Heckle & Jeckle.

  8. Cute – very cute! Fish & Chips? Cirque & Soleil? Bread & Butter? Chili & Chutney? (ok – I’ll stop now . . .)

  9. Gorgeous!
I was trying to think who the Kitten with his tongue out reminded me of…(sorry for content)

    Maybe Kiss and Cuddle??

  10. How about Mo and Farah, because they’ve got his big round eyes, and you got them during the Olympics, and Mr Uhdd is a runner too. It’s so right, although I admit it would be perfect if the kittens were black. Are there any athletes on Team GB with tabby hair, I wonder?

  11. Oh my! Thank you for my morning chuckle–or outright laugh in this case. You’ve captured the essence of kittens today. I’m looking forward to seeing them in action. Spud is going to have so much fun . . .

  12. Ahh, so cute.. Congrats! Good luck to Spud though. He’ll have to share his ‘stage’ with these cute newcomers!

  13. Beano & Bussell?

    • Beano and Bussell, that is such a sweet thought, readers might remember that our previous cats were Dandy and Darcey…. This is proving difficult to decide, such excellent suggestions

  14. Rhubarb and Custard … they look like such sweet wee things.

  15. Beano and Bussell…when you pointed out the link I got a little teary!

  16. They look gorgeous. Great photo of the one with the tongue out.

  17. OK, I’ll admit my weakness: though I love all animals, dogs are the ones I find hardest to love. I usually skip “Spud on Sunday” for that reason.

I saw this entry by chance and, as a cat lover, was of course captivated.

With regard to names, I suggest you wait a while until you know the kittens and their personalities and little quirks better when, I suspect, names will suggest themselves.

Patience is recommended because it’s all too easy to give kittens twee names but these become inappropriate once your domestic tiger achieves adulthood.

  18. Driving down my street the other day, your new kitties popped into my head and I remembered a favorite book series of my daughter’s–Toot & Puddle. They’re pigs, which is what appealed to my piggie-loving girl, but their named may well suit your kitties .
