It occurs to me that I never completed my little jolly around the John Rylands Library in Manchester. Snow and life, came and went.
The building is a sandstone confection (Cumbrian sandstone I believe)
The detail is everywhere.
Copious quantities of leaded glass
Cavernous corridors
Oak carved to linen folds
Vibrant Victorian shades
There is more, to follow.
Worth finishing.
Amazing. Things just aren’t made like that any more.
Wonderful pictures! xx
It would be hard to focus on the books, in such a beautiful building.
Gorgeous details! Thanks so much for sharing your photos of this beautiful building.
Lovely, well worth sharing, thank you.
I took a trip there a few weeks ago having seen it on your blog. Brilliant building. I had walked past several times and had no idea what was in there. Thanks for inspiring my visit!
Glad you enjoyed it, it is a gem. I’ve another post about a building just across the road from the John Rylands
