Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

The Village

The Village starts tonight on BBC1 at 9pm.

I’m sure you will enjoy the scenery, it is going to look more than a little familiar to regular readers of this blog. Enjoy.

The drama sets out in 1914, here is the Uphilldowndale homestead in around 19006-1910

Home sweet home-2

I’d planned a longer post with a few links to ‘The Village’ landscape, but  that will have to wait. I’ve not been so well for the last few days, all those antibiotics came at a price, Joe tried to cheer me up, ‘At least it is better than the tooth ache Mum’. I certainly hope the reaction doesn’t last as long as the tooth ache.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Hope you feel better soon. :)

  2. Get well soon. I look forward to your pictures.

  3. Looks like a wonderful series. I hope it makes its way to the States. Take care.

  4. I know how awful long-term antibiotics are and the havoc they can wreak. Are you taking a probiotic? That’s the only thing that made my year’s worth of antibiotics bearable. So sorry you feel bad; hope it turns around soon.

  5. Interesting picture from a 100+ years ago. I sympathise on how you feel due to the antibiotics, and hope that you recover soon. Some decent spring weather would help I’m sure. xx

  6. I hope you will be much better soon! I agree with the comment above: Some nice and warm spring would help both you and all of us a lot. Soon!

  7. Get well soon… Spring cannot be that far away. The birds have announced it, a sure sign. I hope this series will be shown on the continent too.

Come on, join in.
