Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

More White than Black

The birds are very hungry

This jackdaw came down to the hen house to see what it could find

Jackdaw 3

I left them a little snack out on the roof, the robin on the other hand just jumps in and helps himself.

This was Thursday, and the chickens refused to come out of their sleeping compartment, let alone out of the run…

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Terrific pictures. I don’t blame the chickens! xx

  2. Wow! Winter’s blanket, far and wide…no wonder chickens stay inside!

  3. I’m with the chickens: these days it’s hard enough getting me out from under the duvet, never mind out of the door.

Come on, join in.
