Animal Tales

Where would the media be without a tale or two about animals, where would this blog be come to that, Spud the dog and his adventures always seem popular.

A couple of stories have caught my eye in the last week or so. Ahaaaa! I thought, you read that first on Uphilldowndale.

First there were reports of peacocks fighting their own reflections, yes we’ve covered that.

Then there was a tractor driving sheep dog on the M74*, which caused only mayhem and not carnage, fortunately; and whilst the sheep dog featured here didn’t know about handbrakes,it did know how to ‘give it some welly’

The M74 has made it here before too.

Here are Spud and Dodger, its not news, because it happens on a regular basis, but it is usually entertaining.

Dodger the kitten cat,  claims ownership of Spud’s bed, Spud politely suggest he leaves.

That doesn’t work, so he tries to squeeze him out.

Nope, that’s not working, he tries pushing next.

Eventually they agree to share.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. Humans are known to fight their reflections too, only we call it an election.

  2. Those two look so sweet together ~ How kind of Spud to share his bed, even if he has to edge his way in. Such a gentle nature.

  3. What a clean dog bed! And it has two animals sleeping in it as well, maybe sometimes three? Makes me think I ought to give my pet bedding a spring clean. My two will lie side by side these days, if there’s a particularly hot spot in the sun. At last!

  4. A nice post, good pictures and enjoyable links. The pictures of Spud and Dodger had me smiling, and nodding. xx

  5. Who can resist a Spaniel – I can’t, particularly Spud as he is the spitting image of one of our previous dogs.

When our new Working Cocker puppy arrived a year ago I built a larger kennel for them to share – that didn’t work as whoever got in first claimed it as their’s and much growling ensued, so I put a partition in it.

Now they regularly share the same half to play ‘it’s my ball – no it’s not – it’s mine” still accompanied by much growling and lid-lifting as they crash and bang about inside it until Doug decides he can’t be bothered any more and gives in.

Come on, join in.
