Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

Time flies

It seems impossible to us, but our fist born, turned 21 years of age yesterday. It seems like only yesterday that he was born, but then again it seems like a life time ago, how can it be both?

Tom, big eyes

At nursery he earned the affectionate nickname  of ‘bush baby’. I can report he has now grown into those eyes.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. He looks a little surprised to find himself the center of so much attention. When I encounter these milestones in time I’m likely to fall into a reverie and then haul out the old photo albums. (No digital cameras when Rob the Firefighter was born.) Happy 21st anniversary of motherhood. It becomes you.

  2. What a gorgeous photo!! Happy 21st Birthday “bush baby”.

  3. I hope that he had a good birthday. xx

  4. What memories! And what a alert little boy. You’re right about time — it seems infinitely expandable, yet it compresses in a flash.

  5. my son was 21 in december and i know what you mean – in some ways time has flown and in some it has really crept past. and now they are young men!

  6. ps – i’m joker the lurcher but under my own name now!

  7. Oh he’s a cutie! They do grow up don’t they? We just celebrated 24!
