Watching nature take its course, from the top of a hill in northern England

For One Day Only

I think the ferns will be fully unfurled by tomorrow.

catch them whilst you can.

I can never have too many ferns, I just adore them.

Can you the ‘seahorse’ in this frond?

Fern, seahorse

I’ve a fancy for a Stumpery in the garden;  Mr Uphilldowndale is looking over my shoulder as I search for images of stumperies, he is shaking his head.

Watching the rhythm of rural life, from the top of a hill in northern England. Having spent most of my life avoiding writing, I now need to do it! I am no domestic goddess, but if I were expecting visitors to my home, I would whisk round with the duster and plump up the cushions and generally make the place look presentable. I hope that by putting my words where others may see them it will encourage me to ‘tidy up and push the Hoover around’ my writing. On the other hand I may just be adding to the compost heap. Only time will tell! Pull up a chair, sit yourself down, I’ll put the kettle on.

  1. I love ferns too 🙂 Have you heard of the weekly photo challenge? This week’s theme is Twist! These pictures have the “twist” I think 🙂
Just curious, did you sketch the drawing in the header?

  2. They are fascinating, as your wonderful pictures show. Your last sentence made me smile. xx

  3. Loved the saehorse. 😀

  4. I adore ferns as well and of course now I too want a stumpery in my garden.

  5. The furled ferns remind me of Victorian jewelry designs. I’m waiting for the Stumpery link to load – I’ll bet I like it . . .

Come on, join in.
